ENGAGE Training and Mobility Grant Award:

Eva Albrecht, PhD Student, Institute of Genetic Epidemiology, Helmholtz Zentrum München, Germany

Eva is working in the field of genome-wide association studies and is interested in genetic determinants of telomere length. She has awarded an ENGAGE grant for exchanges between her group at the Helmholtz Center Munich, led by Dr. Christian Gieger and the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester, led by Prof. Nilesh Samani. She will be involved in the statistical analysis of a large genome-wide association study on leukocyte telomere length, which is an ENGAGE flagship project coordinated by Dr. Veryan Codd. A second focus within the exchange is the investigation of phenotypic traits associated with telomere length in cooperation between the two institutes, as well as together with other ENGAGE partners. In the past she has contributed as analyst to the ENGAGE meta-analysis of serum uric acid (Kolz et al.).
